LPEL also undertakes execution and commissioning of its LALIT GRP PIPES. S.M. Engineering & Constructions Pvt. Ltd(SMEC), is the project execution division of LPEL and was founded in January 2000 with a mission to become specialised contractors in the GRP ( Glass Reinforced Polyester) pipes segment. Within months of its start up operations SMEC bagged a 18 kilometer GRP pipeline laying job which involved excavation of site, lowering, laying & jointing of LALIT GRP pipes, followed by line testing and backfilling. . The entire pipeline system is slated to be one of the longest lines of GRP piping in the country and one of the first for potable water application. SMEC has its head office based in Mumbai( Bombay - India) and has regional offices in Bangalore and Poona. The company is hopeful to become a leading contractor in GRP piping systems.
